Go Back
Greetings NAPPO stakeholders,
I hope your travels back home from Merida were uneventful. I wanted to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank the 136 meeting participants (a record attendance since I have been Executive Director) who actively participated in the 46 th NAPPO Annual Meeting hosted by the national plant protection organization of Mexico (Dirección General de Sanidad Vegetal) and organized by the NAPPO Secretariat.
I would like to especially thank SENASICA’s Director Calderón for his words of welcome, and acknowledge the presentations by Dr. Osama El-Lissy, IPPC Secretary, Professor Frances Arnold, Nobel laureate in Chemistry from CalTech, and Dr. Kochhar, President of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.
We listened to updates on the 13 active projects in NAPPO that are progressed/championed by NAPPO Expert Groups. New this year, and immediately following the NAPPO member country reports from government, were reports from all industry sectors in the NAPPO member countries – we thank our Industry Advisory Group members for providing those updates. This year’s meeting had several Knowledge Topics and invited presentations on topics of phytosanitary importance. We thank all
presenters for their willingness to provide their expertise to us. We also had an extremely productive Symposium that resulted in important suggestions from you – the participants – a document capturing these suggestions forms part of the 46 the NAPPO Annual Meeting Event Report, as do all the PowerPoint slide decks and pre-recorded presentations. I hope these are useful to you.
In closing, I want to thank the more than 30 stakeholders that have completed the post-meeting survey to date, and urge the rest of you to please take a few minutes to respond to the survey – we always take your feedback seriously and use it to plan the next Annual Meeting, which as you now know will be held at the Tucson Marriott University Park in Tucson Arizona.
We wish you Happy Holidays, and we thank you for all that you do for NAPPO!
