LESS IS MORE – PRECISION SAFEGUARDING
The Symposium examined the concepts of precision agriculture, the safeguarding continuum and precision safeguarding and engaged participants in a discussion of the advantages and challenges of these approaches. The Symposium also explored how National Plant Protection Organizations (NPPOs) can utilize these approaches and concepts to more effectively target pest risk by considering interventions along the entire plant or plant product pathway. Symposium presenters discussed how leveraging data and analysis and enhancing the role of industry in risk management can fine-tune the determination of the right effort at the right place for the right outcome for safeguarding and identified opportunities to tailor regulatory (and non-regulatory) approaches to optimize plant protection in the NAPPO region and beyond.
